Hi, I am about to model the baseline HVAC but it's not clear to me how i should select the energy source to determine the system according to table G3.1.1A of standard 90.1. The project is a renovation of an existing building, the proposed system (VRF) uses electricity as energy source while the existing system uses a fossil fuel boiler. Which is the criterion to select the baseline HVAC?
Thanks

It is based on the installed system so enter the table under the electric column.

Hi Marcus,
I have a similar case but im struggling to find the base case COP for my project.
Building size is 8500m2.
Base case HVAC system is System 6 packaged VAV with PFP.
Proposed design is VRF system with EER of 11.2 (COP - 3.28)
Can you please help me determine the base case.
The owner of the project is aiming at minimum 21% savings for this project.
Thanks - Sriman

For a system 6 the cooling efficiency is taken from Table 6.8.1A. The cooling efficiency is dependent on the size of the system. The heating efficiency for electric resistance is 100% or a COP of 1.0.
