Warehouses-NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

Baseline Heating Source for Zone Served by Both Purchased Heat and Gas Radiant Heaters

We have an industrial hall where a single thermal zone is heated by two separate systems:

  • gas-fired radiant heaters providing space heating
  • ventilation AHUs with hot-water heating coils supplied by district heating (purchased heat).

For the purposes of ASHRAE 90.1.2010  Appendix G baseline HVAC system selection, how should the heating source be determined when a zone is served simultaneously by purchased heat and gas-fired heating equipment?

Should the baseline heating source follow the purchased heat rules, the gas-heating rules, or be based on the dominant source of annual heating energy delivered to the space or other approach?
