Our project is a major renovation project. Do the ASHRAE mandatory provisions apply to existing systems/components that are not altered? From ASHRAE 90.1-2007, the scopes for several section (envelope, HVAC, lighting, etc.) only apply to new buildings/additions/alterations. However, we are not sure if it is additional LEED requirement (not ASHRAE requirement) that all systems/components shall comply with the mandatory provisions no mater if they are existing or new. For instance, in our building, we have an existing chiller, does this existing chiller need to comply with the mandatory provisions in ASHRAE 90.1-2007 Section 6.4?
Thanks for your inputs.

The mandatory provisions do not apply to an unaltered system in a renovation in LEED.
