NC-v4.1 SSc5:Heat Island Reduction

Artificial turf in Steep-sloped roof

Can anyone clarify for NC-v4.1 SSc5 Option 1 Roof and Non-Roof - if Steep-sloped roof is covered with Artificial turf (decretive finish) and the product is within the minimum solar reflectance index value is it an acceptable finishing Roof product?

Hi Weam, This sounds like more of a question of appropriate roofing materials than one from the reflectivity standpoint. I cannot advise on the suitability of the material itself; that said, I have heard that artificial turf can get quite hot. I suppose if it is within the SRI range to qualify for contributing to the credit compliance, then it would be OK from the Credit standpoint.
