Any recommendations for consultants who specialize in the expanded concept of Universal Design?

I am looking for anyone that specializes in this area, see the principles below.

We have looked at HOK's Neurodiveristy document which is great. Are there other resources like this, or other designers/consultants you have worked with?

TIA

Kristen

Hi Kristen Valerie Fletcher here in Boston has been at the forefront of this for three decades. I have often brought her in for workshops with clients and it always provides value (and she has a voice that should be on radio, like a female Carl Elefante). She and her team work across the world. https://www.humancentereddesign.org/inclusive-design/principles Jean Carroon, FAIA, LEED Fellow Principal - Design, Preservation and Sustainability Goody Clancy 617 850 6651 (direct) 617 285 5936 (mobile) [Goody Clancy] “Building reuse is climate action!” – Lori Ferriss https://www.architects.org/news/the-new-net-zero https://www.architects.org/programs/embodied-carbon 12 part Carbon 101 program begins on June 1 From:

If you're looking for the disabled person's perspective and consultation, you may want to also check out this organization -- https://www.disabledlist.org/

Kristen - this is more in the "tools/resources" category than the consultant, but if you aren't already aware of it you may want to check out the Innovative Solutions for Universal Design (isUD) program. They have resources and a framework that may be helpful: https://thisisud.com

I wasn't aware of the program until the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh committed to pursuing certification on a project we were involved with. They handled the bulk of the certification effort in-house, so I wouldn't claim to be the expert, but I'd be happy to share the PM's info. I'm sure she would be willing to talk about the experience, but there's a nice writeup on it here too: http://www.buffalo.edu/ubnow/stories/2019/10/universal-design.html

Kristen, Chris Downey is another name to consider. He is a blind architect in the Bay Area, as well as a teacher and universal design advocate. http://arch4blind.com/ Jeremy

Hi: Gina Hilberry is based in St. Louis and works nationally on accessibility/universal design in projects. She's deeply knowledgeable about the needs of communities with disabilities and inclusive design. I highly recommend her.
