I understand the energy model is based on ASHRAE 90.1, but is the LEED project building required to follow ASHRAE 90.1 as the energy code?  Here in NYC, we are allowed to follow either ASHRAE 90.1 or NYC Energy Conservation Code in order to file the construction with the city.  I have a building that already filed with the city using NYC Code, and now wants to go LEED.  Must they refile with the city, using ASHRAE as our applicable code?  Or can we comply in NYC with NYC Code, and complete the energy model for LEED using ASHRAE?  The reason we don't want to switch the codes for NYC is that there are some allowances in NYC Code that don't exist in ASHRAE, and we don't want to redesign the building if we don't have to.  Thanks.
