Air Testing - UVGI

Can equipment UVGI (Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) be used during the test?

Shall that be permantly installed?

Or could that be mobile equipment and the owner signs a letter of commitment where he states that the equipment will be always is that room?

Best Regards

Hi Francesco, There is no specific explanation about UVGI in the LEED BD+C v4 Reference Guide. The requirement is "after construction ends and before occupancy, but under ventilation conditions typical for occupancy, conduct baseline IAQ testing using protocols consistent with the method listed in Table 1 for all occupied spaces". Therefore, as long as UVGI is included under ventilation conditions typical for occupancy, it should be ok to be used during the test. The measurements will be conducted under ventilation conditions typical for occupancy. Therefore, if the UVGI is not permanently installed, then commitment letter showing the location of UVGI shall be provided.
