NC-2009 EAc5:Measurement and Verification

AHU LEED Certificate

We got this quote from manufacturer regarding AHU compliance ((While some sections of this standard do not apply to our product, we do comply with the sections that apply. According to the standard, air handling units are exempt from compliance to Section 5.4 - Airstream Surfaces since the section specifically exempts sheet metal surfaces and metal fasteners. Air handling units are constructed of sheet metal with metal fasteners)) I am not sure if this statement means that is comply or no, please advise.

Sounds like they are saying that their system complies with ASHRAE 90.1-2007 but I am not sure. They may mean that their system meets the minimum efficiency requirements in Tables 6.8.1. Of course an air handler does not have the meet the building envelop requirements in Section 5.4. I am not sure what this has to do with this credit which is about M&V.

Study the issue and document your findings. AHUs are not LEED certified. Some components of some AHUs need to comply with the mandatory provisions of 90.1. So study the mandatory provisions and then evaluate the system in question to make sure it complies. Your question is so broad and general it is impossible to give you a clear answer. Again this sounds like it has nothing to do with M&V so please post your questions in the appropriate LEED User Fourm. If you are asking about HVAC comliance issues then you should be posting in one of the EAp2 or EAc1 forums.
