I filled in additional lighting power allowance table online. But i found for the decorative lighting the additional lighting power allowance is zero and i can't change. The additonal lighting power allowance should be equal to the installed additional lighting power which apply the use it or lose it. So how to solve this problem?

If I'm understanding you correctly, it may be an error in the template. However, check and see if your space type allows decorative lighting. Decorative lighting allowances are provided for under ASHRAE for spaces like Museums, retail and things of that nature, but not allowed in Office and some other types.

Thanks for your reply.Paul. I read ASHRAE90.1 2007. It said that for space in which lighting is specified to be installed in addition to the general lighting for the purpose of decorative appearance, such as chandelier-type luminaries or sconces or for highlighting art or exhibits, provided that the addtional lighting power shall not exceed 1.w/ft2 of such space. And it not the specified the space type. So i think office type can apply decorative lighting. If it's the error of table. how can i do?

CORRECTUION: Let me try to recap the issue once more. In the first message the comment was the installed lighting reaches the threshold already because there is no allowance for additional decoration lighting in the office no decorative lighting can be installed. Here my comment was that you can replace the old fixtures with more efficient ones and than use the margin created for decorative lighting power and if there is a client you can even sell the old fixtures if there are funds available to buy the best technologies available to get below treshold and create room for decorative lighting. PRETTY CLEAR IN MY OPINION. In following comments you mentioned that the template is wrong and that there is actually additional allowance for decorative lighting power in office. Did you refer on this for areas such as retail, cafeteria or museum in this case. If I look at 90.1 2007 than I would say that sum of all lighting power wattage must include overhead, task and decorative lighting based on actual power draw and not just nominal lamp rating. There maybe a way around it if you go alternative compliance path section 501.2. Use total building performance method, however if the building is old than the mechanical system and envelope may not do this one either. So if there are no funds available or if the total building performance method will not do it than you need to forfeit decorative lighting I guess unless your LUX level is too high anyway and you can disconnect some fixtures. I trust this is as much as I can add on this subject.

Hi john. Thanks for your reply. The building provide lighting panel is efficient which is T5 lighting tube. It seems i don't have to replace it.And Ashrae allow additional lighting power for decrorative if it don't provide general lighting. It don't specify area type. And for the highlight merchandise, it specified the area such as retail, museum. what i apply is decrotive. So i don't know why the value of LPD for decrorative is 0 in online template. Does anyone come across this problem?
