There is no clear selection for kitchens in the occupancy category of the calculator, and yet when I took a look at the IEQ matrix it shows Kitchen spaces are to be included for IEQp1. No exceptions or other side notes. This is for a v2009 project, but if I were to select v4.1 in the calculator, Kitchen is shown in the occupancy category. The unit serves two kitchen spaces but it is 100% OA. How should I go about this?

Edgar, Kitchens are exhaust driven spaces and should be ventilated according to the exhaust rates in ASHRAE 62.1. You do not need to include these in the multi-zone calculation because none of the air will be returned to other spaces. You should add a narrative description in the credit template stating which spaces were left out of the calculation and why. These are typically toilet rooms, janitor closets, etc.

Understood. Thank you for the clarification. I do have another questions related to this prerequisite, this project is filed to comply as a LEED Group Project, it is comprised of two buildings. How can I submit this prerequisite for each building separately? Because the credit template doesn't provide a clear path for that, it only asks to name the first building that I'm submitting the multi-zone calculation for. I've read LEED Application Guide for Multiple Buildings and On-Campus Building Projects many times, that still doesn't provide a clear instruction as to comply certain prerequisites and credits individual for each group building.

You should include the other building's system information in a new tab on the calculator and write in the narrative that you are applying this to both buildings. The reviewer should understand that.
