I am certifying an industrial manufacuting facility. We didn't think we would qualify as warehouse or distribution given our high eneryg use, but our facility type is much more akin to this rating system when it comes to its location and adjacent density. We would like to apply for an alternative compliance path under the Warehouse / Distributon verison of the credit. Our plan was to request this ACP in the credit form. Anyone have experience doing this? Should we submit a project specific LEED Interpretation?

I suggest you ask for a LEED Coach at GBCI and review it with the coach to discuss viability and the approach to submitting a formal request.

Hi Jill, I agree with Ralph that you should check in with a LEED Coach. However, we have been able to use the Warehouse credit for Surrounding Density in our Core and Shell projects. Not as an ACP but as a straight across swap the credit situation. This is a rare situation, and we've done it based on early conversations with GBCI staff about the difficulty of certifying core and shell warehouse projects with no identified tenants and no build outs. It sounds like you may be doing NC rather than CS so this may not apply in the same way. But FYI.

I agree with Michelle and Ralph. Have an early discussion with LEED Coach.
I have done the same thing Michelle did with a 'straight credit swap'....but only after discussions with GBCI.
Unfortunately, GBCI does not plan to make this credit swap official..yet. So a discussion with GBCI early in the project will continue to be required.
Good Luck!
