When calculating the amount of daylight (via the prescriptive method) that enters through a south-facing window that utilizes sun shades, how does one account for the added shading benefit in order to differentiate the number from an unobstructed window?

Dan, You should use other methods to account exterior shading devices.
If you incorporate view-preserving automated shades for glare control, you can demonstrate compliance for only the minimum 10 fc (108 lux) illuminance level.

The rooms in question would be using an external louver solar shading system. Does this mean that we would need to calculate these particular spaces via a daylight simulation model?
