WELL v1 Building Standard Tip Sheet

62. Daylight modeling requirement Perez Sky

Is there a requirement for using Perez Sky model to achieve Spatial daylight autonomy (sDA300,50%) for at least 55% floor area of regularly occupied spaces?

I'm using RadianceIES and if I enable Perez Sky Model it gives significantly better result, so I'm confuesed wheter I can apply the Perez model or not to obtain this credit.

Thanks

That’s a really good question. The Perez Sky model is often used because it gives more accurate daylight predictions compared to simpler sky models. In many daylight simulations for sDA, it’s acceptable as long as you are consistent with the standard you’re following. It’s best to double-check the specific credit requirements, but generally Perez is considered a reliable approach.
