2020 Sustainable MEP Leaders Summit - Save the Date!

Mark your calendars Sustainable MEP Leaders!!
Here are the details to save the date for the 2020 MEP Summit:

Date: June 9th and 10th, 2020
Location: Stantec Office in Denver, CO
Schedule Outline: Tues. 9th beginning with Lunch at Noon, ending Wed. about 3pm

Gather and learn from your peers! Share your challenges. Expand your perspectives. Leave with new tools and tips. The summit is designed to engage you and your peers in conversations about your common roles, interests, concerns, and initiatives related to sustainability. We will also continue our work together in person by following up on 2019 Summit initiatives.

Currently, we have two volunteers willing to help with the agenda planning and we are looking for more people. It would be very helpful to have a couple of you that attended last year’s summit involved. Be in touch with me directly if you are interested in helping prep the summit agenda, roseann@buildinggreen.com.

If you would like to invite someone to this event who is not currently a member, please direct them to apply to join the network here.

Following up on the discussion at the end of yesterday's monthly call RE: COVID-19 Coronavirus response and the Sustainable MEP Leaders Summit, my organization has now directed that all non-critical travel and all larger face-to-face meetings are suspended until further notice.  I'm still fine with waiting until a month out from the summit so we can make a more informed decision on whether to cancel, postpone, or handle the summit entirely online.  I'm interested what everyone else's organization is directing RE: COVID-19.

Same in our office. Either delay or video meeting is fine with me.  We just had over 1000 people on a ZOOM meeting. Best,
LL

Patrick - we've cancelled non-essential travel. To us, that's conferences, internal management meetings, etc. We're also trying to move all larger project meetings to be video conferences as much as possible. Also, we have quite a few people that travel to support projects, and we're trying to do what we can to drive to those meetings rather than fly. Makes for some inefficiency, but puts our people at less risk.  I attached some preparedness guidelines from the CDC. They categorize based on the level of impact in your community. Most of our actions have been in the "Minimal to Moderate" category. But we're talking daily and considering escalating some guidelines up a level. This isn't the only source like this, but this has been generating a lot of discussion in our managing Principals team. Like you, I'm interested in what others are doing.

Our current policy:  All non-essential travel and large groups are to be avoided until 30 April 20.   Since the situation is fluid, and changing rapidly, I am of the opinion that we hold the June in Denver date/plans and continue to monitor the situation - all my arrangements are 100% refundable until 72 hours before. On the bright side, it seems we are about where things were in Wuhan in mid-January.  60 days downrange and China is seeing daily declines in new cases (less than two dozen yesterday).  60 days from now is mid-May.  I know, I know - "Hope is not a strategy."

Hi Sustainable MEP Leaders, Well, it won't be in person, but we have all kinds of tricks and strategies coming together to make this a fun and productive online engagement. Here are the (slightly revised) dates and times so you can block your calendars (all times EDT):
  • June 9: 3:00 – 5:00 pm
  • June 10: 11:00  – 4:00
  • June 11: 11:00 – 1:00
These time slots spread the event over three days, while still keeping it somewhat concentrated, so we can hopefully stay (relatively) focused together, despite the physical distance that separates us. More details, including pricing and a registration link, coming next week. Meanwhile, stay safe and keep up the great work. Yours, Nadav

Registration for the Summit is now live! https://www.buildinggreen.com/content/sustainable-mep-leaders-summit-2020 As you'll see on the page, there are three price options--allowing for today's extenuating circumstances. A few of you asked for an invitation that just lists the top price--we'll get that out to you shortly--hopefully by tomorrow. Thank you!
