Incorporate smoking-related requirements into the commissioning documentation, including the Owner’s Project Requirements and the Basis of Design for EAp1: Fundamental Commissioning.

Enforce the nonsmoking policy. Non-smoking policies can be implemented with communication, documentation, and building signage.

Fill out the LEED credit template once documents are complete, and upload all supporting documentation to LEED Online.

Ensure that designated outdoor smoking areas remain 25 feet or more from entrances, operable windows, and ventilation system intakes. Designate the location of these areas on design drawings.

Incorporate smoking policy signage into plans and construction specifications.

Determine smoking policies with the help of building owners, and identify exterior smoking areas if applicable. Incorporate the project’s requirements into the Owner’s Project Requirements developed for building commissioning (see EAp1).

If using porous paving, implement a plan to maintain its porosity. Vehicle use, sand and organic matter, and snowplowing can all damage or reduce the effectiveness of porous paving.

Implement a maintenance plan to ensure ongoing, as-designed performance of stormwater systems and equipment. Doing so will also contribute to LEED-EBOM SSc6: Stormwater Management credit compliance.

Provide maintenance personnel with plans and operations manuals for the operation of all structural control systems.

Commissioning water reuse systems will help ensure they operate as designed. This step can be incorporated EAp1: Fundamental Commissioning, or EAc3: Enhanced Commissioning.
