BIO

Sandra Leibowitz is the Founder, Owner and Managing Principal of SDC. Prior to this, Sandra served as Sustainable Design Specialist for three Washington, DC-area architecture and consulting firms as well as Co-director of the Solar Information Center at the University of Oregon, where she earned a Master of Architecture degree.

Sandra draws from her years of advanced experience with hundreds of sustainable design projects and dozens of organizational programs to serve institutions, building owners, design, construction and property management professionals with expert green building consulting that is highly responsive to client needs.

Sandra leads SDC’s team of experienced and credentialed professionals integrating green building design, construction, operations and maintenance concepts into commercial, institutional and multi-family residential projects of varying size and complexity. She has authored numerous articles and guidance documents and speaks frequently on a wide range of sustainable design and development topics.

Sandra’s progressive leadership has included service on the Steering Committee of Richmond Women in Design and the Boards of Directors of the Society for American Military Engineers, Central Virginia Post, EarthCraft Virginia and the James River Green Building Council. She has also served on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Education Steering Committee and Education Core Committee for Professional Development.

Sandra has been honored in 2017 by Green Building & Design Magazine (gb&d) with a Women in Sustainability Leadership Award, in 2011 by Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI) as one of the first class of LEED Fellows, and in 2010 by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Richmond chapter as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Richmond Commercial Real Estate.
