Jordan Daniels is a Senior Consultant in the Sustainable Buildings and
Communities Group with DNV GL in Oakland, California, having recently served as Sustainability Manager for LP Consulting Engineers and Senior Partner with BuildingWise in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been a LEED® Accredited Professional since 2005 and has over 13 years of experience in the built environment, including 5 years in construction, 5 years in operations and maintenance, and 3 years in solar/photovoltaics.

Jordan earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the
University of California at Davis. He has extensive experience managing LEED projects using the most common rating systems including New Construction, Commercial Interiors, and Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance. Some notable LEED projects include the Transamerica Pyramid (Platinum), the Chevron Corporate Headquarters (Gold), and Bishop Ranch Business Park (Platinum, Gold, Silver), as well as Uptown Monterey, the first LEED certified (LEED for Core & Shell, Silver) shopping center in California. Jordan also teaches an evening course in sustainable building design, construction and operations at Hartnell College in Salinas.

In addition to managing LEED certifications, Jordan understands commercial construction and industrial power systems. He managed California regional construction projects with Daniels & House Construction and also worked for PowerLight Corporation (now part of SunPower), the largest installer of solar systems in the U.S. Jordan also interned at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory where he created a database of geothermal power plants in the U.S.

Mr. Daniels is Secretary of the Board of The Sustainability Academy, a
non-profit dedicated to accelerating the mainstream practice of
sustainability on the Central Coast of California. He presently serves on the Technical Advisory Committee of the California Best Buildings Challenge, a program of the U.S. Green Building Council, Northern California Chapter. He is active on the Steering Committee of the Monterey Bay Branch of that organization, having been its Co-Chair from 2008 through 2010. He also served on the Mayor’s ad hoc Committee on Green Building for the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea for two years.

Jordan made a documentary DVD in his free time to educate communities about deconstruction as an alternative to demolition and features his experience with the Uptown Monterey project. Co-sponsored by the City of Monterey, this DVD is titled Cash for Trash: The Case for Deconstruction and covers principles and practices for performing deconstruction and reuse, as well as ways to include used building materials in building design.
