For nearly 20 years, Jason Grant has been a leader in the sustainable forestry and green building movements. In 1992, he co-founded EcoTimber, a pioneering distributor of ecological forest products. EcoTimber was among the first companies in the world to bring to market products from forests certified to the stringent environmental and social standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Jason is currently the principal of Jason Grant Consulting, an FSC consulting firm, and of Grant & Associates, which represents a variety of leading FSC manufacturers in the green building market. He lives and works in Sonoma County just north of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jason is widely recognized as an expert in ecological forest products, the FSC industry, and the role of wood in the green building. He is a LEEDuser Expert for the Certified Wood credit (MRc7) and a lead chain-of-custody auditor for Scientific Certification Systems. In recent years, he has coordinated and represented a broad coalition of major environmental groups, forward-thinking companies, and sustainable design leaders in an effort to defend high standards for wood and forests in LEED.
Jason currently serves on the Forest Certification Team of the Sierra Club and on the board of directors of US Green Building Council - Redwood Empire Chapter. In the past, he sat on the boards of several seminal organizations in his field, including Woodworkers’ Alliance for Rainforest Protection, the Good Wood Alliance, and the Certified Forest Products Council.
