Residential Projects

Consider the three options for non-residential projects to earn this credit:

Option 1: Do not exceed minimum zoning requirements for parking capacity and provide preferred parking for carpools and vanpools for 5% of the total parking spaces.
Option 2: Projects that provide parking for less than 5% of the building FTE occupancy need to provide preferred parking spaces for carpools and vanpools for 5% of total parking spaces. 
Option 4: Provide no new parking.

Non-Residential Projects 

Identify whether your project is non-residential or residential. Depending on your building type, assess each of the compliance paths separately to see which best suits your project’s scope.

Option 2: Provide Preferred Parking

Building staff will spend time administering parking programs. Procedures and policies for their use must be developed, along with enforcement mechanisms. 

Complete the LEED Online credit form, and provide the following supporting documentation, as applicable:

Drawings or a site plan that indicates the location and number of preferred parking spaces or alternative-fueling stations. 
Sample signage for preferred parking.
Equipment cut sheets and product information for alternative-fueling stations. 
Vehicle product information for low-emitting and fuel-efficient cars provided to employees. Include make, model number, and fuel type.

The setup costs for this option may be considerable. 
Research tax incentives offered by federal, state, or local governments for purchasing alternative-fuel vehicles. This could help offset some of the initial costs.
