Hello,
We are working on a LEED v4 Core & Shell project that includes underground parking levels. In the current design, the lift lobbies receive outdoor air supply, but they are not fully enclosed (i.e., they are open to the adjacent parking area). The project also includes CO sensors that activate mechanical exhaust when thresholds are exceeded.
We have two questions:
- Are enclosed lift lobbies in underground levels required in order for the outdoor air supply to be considered valid under ASHRAE 62.1 and LEED IEQp1?
- If the project does not include lift lobbies at all—meaning elevators open directly into ventilated circulation areas or corridors—can we assume that no separate ventilation requirement applies, since there is no defined space to be treated as a lobby?
We would appreciate any guidance or references to GBCI interpretations or similar project precedents.
Thank you!
