Pilot-Credits SSpc129:Comprehensive Composting

Comprehensive composting in small building office

We are pursuing this credit for a small office building under LEED Core & Shell.

One of the requirements for the credit is to " Arrange outreach and education procedure for the building operations and maintenance staff as well as new occupants or tenants involving their acknowledgement of the organic waste collection receptacle.."

We will educate future tenants through the Tenant Design and Construction Guide, which will contain all the necessary information on proper waste separation (including organic waste) and waste reduction measures.

In addition, visual signage will be placed on each to indicate to each building occupant which container to use for waste disposal.

Do you consider these measures sufficient to justify compliance with this point? We believe that all of them can contribute to the education of the occupants.

Could anyone suggest any other ideas for occupant education?

Thank you so much

Hi Belén,As for the content of the education plan that must be sufficient to comply with the credit's requirements, however, to ensure compliance with the educational plan I suggest to add a workshop made at least every year so the tenants's occupants are updated and aware of the proper handling of organic waste, waste reduction measures and the compost operation. Best,
