NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Are CO sensors needed for lodging units with no kitchen facilities

There is a labor accomodation project with the no cooking facilities whatsoever. There will be centralised kitchen facility for the project. Do we still need to have CO sensors one per unit? If I am correct, the requirement applies to dwelling units only and the current project's lodging facilities without cooking provision donot qualify as dwelling units?

Kindly advise.

It is my understanding that residential space requirements of this prerequisite do not apply to hotel or traditional non-dwelling unit dormitories. My advice would be to send this inquiry to LEED coach for confirmation, and include their response with your LEED application.  Good Luck!

Thank you Dave. I have raised a similar query with LEED coach and waiting for the response.

We had similar issue several years ago – answer was that there are deaths caused by CO not assosiated with kitchen facilities, so yes – it is required at dwelling units at any case.

Thank you for the responses. Just to update, I raised a similar query with USGBC. I got a response that since the lodging units donot have kitchen provisions, the units donot qualify as dwelling units, hence, CO sensors are not required in the lodging spaces.

In your case I would take care to ascertain that you were understood right, since it's accomodation project, i.e. people would reside there constantly/regularly including spending nights, so it 100% fits definition of dwelling unit. Of course – if I understood you right about the purpose of the project.
