NC-v4 WEc4:Water metering

Water metering of DHW in relation to Janitor's sink

Hi LEED Users/Experts/Fellows,

I have a small office building under LEED-NC-v4.0 and I am dealing with water metering of end-uses. We selected domestic-hot-water (DHW) and reclaimed (rainwater) systems. Both are metered at plant-side, on inlet cold water for DHW and inlet top-up and outlet for rainwater.

The janitor sink is connected on the DHW circuit, whilst also the reclaimed water supplies toilet flushing as well as hose bibs back-of-house.

My question is: would that require additional sub-metering to janitor or hose-bibs incoming? as with the indoor-fixtures end-use or it's not required under DHW and reclaimed water.

No, you do not need to split the janitor sink off from these systems. It's only an issue for the indoor fixtures end use because those sinks are considered process water. For DHW and reclaimed water it's ok to meter total consumption.

Many thanks, Emily!
