NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

Regd. ASHARE 90.1 version to be selected while swapping LEED V.4 to LEED V 4.1

Hi all,

We are woking on a datacente project registered under LEED V4 following ASHRAE 90.1 2010. Now, we have the option to swap certain credits(including minimum energy using performance rating method) to LEED V4.1 which requires us to follow ASHRAE 90.1 2016. We have the following doubts:

  1. Can we still refer to the ASHRAE 90.1 2010 table references while swapping to LEED V4.1 (specifically for energy related credits)
  2. For ASHRAE 90.1 2010, which path should be followed for chiller efficiency: Path A or Path B

Thankyou in advance.

Hello, 1. If you are switching to LEED v4.1 for optimize energy credit,  then you must use 90.1-2016.  Note, you must also switch to v4.1 for minimum energy performance pre-req if you make this switch. 2. My understanding is for 90.1-2010, we have the option to chose either A or B. But we must use option A for 90.1-2016 per G3.1.2.1. (Path A results in higher efficiency for chillers that run most of the time at full load whereas path B has higher efficiency at part loads.)

Hi Shashank, Thanks for the reply. So, we can claim better energy savings by using Path B efficiency in basecase as per table 6.8.1c ASHRAE 90.1 2010 even if we are using a constant speed chillers in actual design(following Path A efficiency)?
