Hello,
I'm working on a project that has a solar array covering the majority of the roof. Can we exempt the panels from the roof calculations for Heat Island Reduction?
LEED interpretion #10235 says this can be excluded but it applies to earlier versions of LEED.

Hi Anna,
Yes, you can exempt roof area that is covered by solar panels, though it is still recommended to have reflective roofing underneath the panels.
The v4.1 and v4 language states "Applicable roof area excludes roof area covered by mechanical equipment, solar energy panels, skylights, and any other appurtenances."
