CS-v4.1 SSc5:Heat Island Reduction

SS Credit: Heat Island Reduction - Parking under Cover - Option 2

Hi All,

I have two questions regarding the specific credit, and I would greatly appreciate your assistance:

  1. In my project, we have an underground parking area on the second basement level (-2 Floor), and above it, on the first basement level (-1 Floor), there are storage areas and some offices. For the credit documentation, I assume there is no need to provide additional information such as SRI values, vegetation, or renewable energy systems. Could you please confirm?

  2. I’ve noticed that for the exemplary performance credit, it seems necessary to pursue both options (1+2). Although this isn’t explicitly mentioned in the v4.1 manual, I found this requirement stated in the LEED online form. As all my parking spaces are underground, they are 100% compliant, which exceeds the 95% threshold needed for exemplary performance. Could you clarify if pursuing both options is indeed required?

Thank you very much, and I look forward to your feedback.

Best regards,

Actually it is written in the manual that it is necessary to pursue both options (1+2). So even if we have all parking spaces underground we cant get the exemplary performance credit.

Correct. The v4.1 guidance defaults back to the v4 Reference Guide for anything that isn't explicitly spelled out as a change, including the exemplary performance requirements. So, for EP, all projects must achieve both options 1 and 2, with 100% of parking located under cover (be it underground, or under cover of some other qualifying element).
