Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows the requirements for the secondary pump controls under the DES Path1 option? MEPC indicates dependency based on the capacity for chw and ft2 for the hot water systems. Is that valid both baseline and proposed pumps or baseline only? In other words can we select riding the pump curve for baseline and variable speed for proposed when proposed design includes variable speed controls?
Thank you

Chilled water: under DES Path 1 the chilled water loop is no longer modeled as primary/secondary; only one on-site CHW distribution pump is modeled in the Baseline. The Baseline controls are still based on the requirements from G3.1.3.10 (riding the pump curve if less than 300 tons of total cooling capacity; variable speed if 300 tons or more), and the pump power is 16 W/gpm.
Hot water: The Baseline controls are still based on the requirements of G3.1.3.5 (riding the pump curve if serving less than 120,000 ft2; variable speed if 120,000 ft2 or more), and the pump power is 14 W/gpm.
