I don’t understand why Sensitive land protection is not a prerequisite yet. We have public projects building in wetlands, we have private developers using LEED to greenwash their projects while they destroy sensible habitats. This is not normal. One LEED point should not be the worth of prime farmlands, wetlands or habitats of endangered/threatened species. In Option 2 Wetland protection and water bodies were also removed from LEEDv5 although they were present in LEEDv4.

Comments from a few of us:
  • Active Travel - the bike network requirements makes this point near impossible. The contiguous network needs to start at the project boundary - what if you need to cross a street to get to the bike network or travel a couple of blocks? I would recommend  changing the width to be 3' and/ or require a curb or bollard separation if <4' and changing the location of the contiguous network to be within 1/4 mile (or 1/8 mile)? Can you have an alternative path using a Bike Score above a certain #?
  • Connected - love that you added the walk score option here
  • EV - schools - how do you handle the develop & IMPLEMENT - electric buses if the plan is w/in 5 years?

Location & Transportation Comments:
  • Realignment of Bicycle Facilities to expaneded options makes this credit both feasible and able to be added to the conversation with building owners.
  • Use of Walk Score is good, would like to see Transit and Bike Score incorporated as well.
  • Expansion of transportation demand management with more options is a good revision - addition of transit passes/ride home and flexible work arrangements.
  • Expand electric vehicles to accomodate vehicles other than cars and trucks - addressing the expanding need of bicycle charging.
