Pilot-Credits WEpc115:Whole Project Water Use Reduction

Can we still target this credit even if we do not get full points under indoor water use reduction credit?

For our project no irrigation is required, and with currently approx 43% indoor water use reduction allows the project to achieve full points under ACP Whole Project Water Use Reduction.

Im wondering if we can still target if we do not get full points under indoor water use reduction credit..

you can still target all 10 points associated with this ACP ...even if you do not achieve all the points within the Indoor Water Use Reduction credit.

Here are the numbers from a recently GBCI-approved Whole Project Water Use Reduction: Indoor: baseline = 518,151 gallons, as designed = 335,384 gallons. 35.27% savings. Outdoor: baseline = 488,156 gallons, as designed = 0 gallons. 100% savings. TOTAL = 66.67% savings. Which achieves 10 points through this ACP. (other water end uses were less than 5% of the total, hence they did not need to be included in the analysis) Projects with no cooling towers, no permanent irrigation system, at least some onsite vegetated area (i.e. NOT zero lot line), and 'not a factory' seem to be the best fit for this ACP. This ACP may also be a nice fit for projects that capture/reuse rainwater. Good Luck!

Thanks for that, very helpful. For documentation, as a core and shell project could can we assume no reduction in process loads and leave the process loads table all 0's in Whole Project Water Use Reduction calculator as well others ? Also, do we need to submit more documentation on Water Balance besides the LEED calculators (+ fixture and fittings datasheets and landspace info) ? We achieve max points by no irrigation with combination with current percentage reduction on indoor water use reduction.. I dont have experience with this credit, so we dont know for sure what is required for submission, per current results on achieved reduction.

If the process water loads are expected to be less than 5% of the total building/site annual water consumption (once the building is built out) then you can list "0" for process water use in the Whole Project Water Use Reduction calculator. We provide the following documentation: Whole Project Water Use Reduction calculator, pilot credit registration confirmation, feedback survey, and evidence of participation on the LEEDuser forum to discuss our experience with the pilot credit. Please note that the Outdoor Water Use Reduction calculator is only concerned with the Peak Month, while the Whole Project Water Use requires every month with a irrigation watering demand to be included. For HVAC did you provide any calculations? I would say condensates generation and similar will be less than 5% but was wondering what type of calculation should we upload (if any) .. Do you have any guidance on those calculations?

In our case, we have worked on Core and Shell projects where process equipment is not included within the project scope, and there are no HVAC systems that involve water demand. Therefore, the process and HVAC sections in the calculator were left blank, and only indoor water use and irrigation, which are within our scope, were considered. No additional information on process or HVAC equipment was provided, as it is outside the scope of the project.
