IN- GREEN BUILDING EDUCATION

Has anyone implemented the second strategy in the guide "The development of a manual, guideline or case study to inform the design of other buildings based on the successes of this project."?

My question is if the case study is a step-by-step of the design of our project focusing on the sustainable strategies, or a case study of OTHER buildings that are similar to our project?

I use this strategy on pretty much every project I have. We make a tour guide document that highlights interior/exterior project features in a 1-2 pg doc, usually using floor/site plans and sometimes images. It can be used for a self-guided tour, or used by a tour guide. The 2nd piece we provide is the case study. Ours is usually ~5-6 pages, gives overall project stats (points status, EUI, WUI, energy/water savings, #EPDs, etc.) and provides narratives on project features in general. We similarly use renderings/images, plans if appropriate, product snippets, etc., whatever works for the project. The important part is to note that both of those docs must address aspects within each credit category. Other than that, the content is flexible. Some versions I've seen do cover the design/construction process, include images from daylight studies...all sorts of things.  Hope that helps.

Hi Emily, we are also targetting this credit. Just to clarify for the 2n piece what you are providing refers to other projects (not the one going for the certification) right? Just want to confirm the strategy and understand if the final document needs to be available to building occupants or how what are the acceptable strategies to be compliant with the credit, Does the project owner gets to decide how will be communicated?

No, both items have info regarding the project seeking certification. My versions are intended to be available to occupants; actual distribution/method of availability are up to the client, but are not required to be communicated as part of the documentation.
