BE+ CONNECTS Follow-up

Hi All,

I introduced BE+ CONNECTS at the Greenbuild Show & Tell and I wanted to follow-up. For those who weren't there, we've tried to create a solution to people asking, “I want to build Net Zero and I don’t know who to call….”

Check out 5 Thinks to know about BE+ CONNECTS here: https://mailchi.mp/builtenvironmentplus/connects?e=945422688d

Check out BE+ CONNECTS here: https://beplusconnects.com/

1. “Join as a Pro” by creating a User account. https://beplusconnects.com/user/register

2. Create a Professional Profile (Requires approval from BE+ admin before you can continue to the next step)

3. Connect your Professional Profile to existing Projects and your Company/s.

4. Create Project and Company Profiles that are missing.

5. Review existing profiles and add/edit information, photography, and connections.

6. Share with your colleagues.

I'd love your feedback. There's still time to make changes.  Thanks to those who have already created profiles.  My goal is to have at least 100 Professional profiles by the end of the year.  We already have close to 100 projects and 40 companies published. Note: BE+ CONNECTS is open to all Professionals, Companies and Qualifying Projects in the US.

Hi All, I’m reaching out with updates on BE+ CONNECTS, which I announced to many of you at the Greenbuild 2023 Show & Tell, and a request for those who haven’t yet to check it out and create your profiles. I'm excited to share that as of today 112 Professionals, 117 Companies and 281 Projects have found their way into BE+ CONNECTS, the directory of high performing building professionals and their companies connected to their projects. Jacob Knowles, Colleen Soden, and Kate Brubiski are the top professionals with 35, 17, and 16 projects respectively. Andrew Steingser bumps into the top 3 when you count by area with 4.1M GSF of Net Zero / Net Zero Ready Projects.  BR+A, Petersen Engineering, Arrowstreet, Stantec and RDH are among the Top Companies for projects. Turner, Arrowstreet and Sustainable Comfort are leading the way with the highest number of Professionals. There are 387 Leaders in the BG peer networks according to the BG directory. That means many of you have yet to be CONNECTED. Learn more about BE+ CONNECTS  and Create an Account to get started. About BE+ CONNECTS
  • The primary site function is for people saying “I want to build Net Zero and I don’t know who to call.” It is built with the premise that a given company’s expertise is in its people and is proven through projects. The site connects users with experts.
  • Everything is Connected: Companies - People, People - Projects, Projects -Companies
  • Powered by Project Data:  The more projects, the higher you’ll appear in results. To be included projects need to be all-electric for heating operations and highly efficient. The details are on the site.
  • Contact Professionals: People can reach you directly.
  • U.S. Focus: People, Companies and Projects from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Track and Share: Great way to track and share your own and your company’s experience. I recently had a company ask for a recommendation letter for a project and I could pull quantifiable data from BE+ CONNECTS.
  • Wiki-like editing access: Once you have an approved account you can edit or add to any project or company on the site as well as make connections. You can collaborate with the entire team, revise data as the project progresses and ultimately add measured data once the project is in service.
  • Search Users: the site is intended to be searched by Building Owners, Municipalities, and Developers
  • Search by Listed Professionals and Project Type: Architects, Engineers, Developers, Contractors, Subcontractors, Sustainability Consultants.
  • Focused on Energy and Carbon in New Construction: Currently the Site focus is on operational energy and carbon for primarily new construction buildings that are everything but small residential. The questions are related to Energy so that’s why WELL and other credentials aren’t included.
  • FREE: the whole thing is free and doesn’t have advertising.
  • Another benefit of BE+ CONNECTS is showing the world what is possible in our quest to electrify buildings. I’d hope there’s value when you can show a client 55 K-12 schools completed or in process that have already electrified when they are on the fence.  There’s also value in seeing what your peers are doing and being able to ask them questions so we can advance the entire industry at a faster rate.
What’s next?
We’ve applied for funding to refine the site based on user input, develop a project directory with a project dashboard and expand the site to include existing buildings. We are in the midst of a positive reinforcing feedback loop.  More professionals, companies and projects in the directory drives more people to create profiles. More profiles makes BE+ CONNECTS more useful for users and results in greater connections between clients wanting high performing buildings and the experts. More users and connections leads to more funding.  More funding gives us the resources to reach more professionals and to refine the site based on user input. Which leads us back to more professionals, companies and projects in the directory. That’s where you come in.  More of you creating professional, company, and project profiles and connecting between them will help greatly. Thanks for reading this far. Let me know if you have any questions and feedback. -Meredith
