Pilot-Credits INpc113:Informing Design Using Triple Bottom Line Analysis

Downstream Implementation of Analysis Outcomes

This is such a critical part of informing plan decisions in relation to the marketplace value or buyer acceptance. I am curious how value engineering exercise at the construction stage has influenced alignment with the plan certification exercise?

In our experience, retaining targetted points as we progress through the municipal approval process is sometimes challenging. Governing engineering standards can both help, but also hinder the built outcome of the plan designed thourgh the LEED ND lens. It is not a criticism but a curiousity as to how we adjust for changes in one of financial, social, and environmental parameters of the evaluation.

Hello - We are thinking through this as well.  We have been successful in some organizations bringing emissions into the decision-making framework.  However agree that is challenging to bring the combination of all societal, occupant, and owner benefits into the schedule+budget+quality framework.  As with most things, I think it begins with understanding what the project owner and team partners value beyond schedule, budget, and quality.  The TBLA exercise is so valuable in providing information to enhanced the conversation in a way that didn't exist before!
