Do you have outdoor air quality policies?

Hi SCL,

Just thought I would share an interesting piece from Construction Dive about a lack of guidance on when to halt work due to bad air quality--from wildfires or otherwise. A few SCL companies are mentioned here as having their own policies, but I was pretty shocked to learn that this isn't required by OSHA.

Do you have an AQI threshold when you halt work? Is this something that the Contractor's Commitment could incentivize? This is such an interesting area of overlap between climate change and safety.

CalOSHA is more stringent and does have a section for AQI. https://www.dir.ca.gov/title8/5141_1.html. There are thresholds where N95 respirators become voluntary for outdoor work (AQI between 151-500) - the employer must provide a sufficient amount and encourage use, and respirators are required over 500.
