Per the EPA /Energy Star definition, the commercial washing machines are coin or card operated types for use by multiple residents of a building - this is similar to the situation for hotel guests. Machines with a capacity of over 9 cubic feet are excluded from the rating system.
However, for the credit, the commercial washing machine(s) must have the capacity to handle 2400 lbs in an 8-hour shift - that's 300 lbs/hour. That would require at least 7-10 of the machines that meet the Energy Star definition machines going non-stop.
Or does the credit refer to the really big, industrial machines, capaple of washing 60 lbs/hour?
