Option 3 discusses reduction in process water through non-potable water sources. Then goes on to define elible systems as...(from ref guide)
Process water uses eligible for achievement of Option 3 must represent at least 10% of total building regulated water use and may not include water used for cooling. Eligible subsystems may include:
- Boilers
- Humidification systems
- Other subsystems using process water
Process water definition per ref guide:
water that is used for a variety of manufacturing processes, including: boiler make-up water; cooling tower make-up water; coating and plating; rinsing and spraying; washing and many others.
Are we to draw the conclusion that for some reason cooling towers are excluded from Option 3 (dealt with in other options). Or....is it an acceptable approach to reduce cooling tower water use in option 3 and document credit compliance.
