Excluding a building in LEED boundary from LEED requirement

Dear LEED users,

I'm working in a project targeting LEED silvder under LEED v4 BD+C:NC. In our project, in addtion to the main buillding (LEED targeted), we have anogher supporting utility buiding where there are office, maintenance workshop, etc.

My question is: can we exclude the supporting utility building from the LEED requirements and apply LEED only to the main building.

Note:

Both buildings are exist in the LEED boundary

yes, you can exclude support buildings from the LEED application. This is a very typical approach on large industrial facilties with utility building(s), wastewater treatment plants, guard shack, etc..

Hi Osman,
The supporting utility building such as office, maintenance workshop, etc. should be included from LEED certification requirement, as they are occupied space and support operation building. LEED v4 credit language states that the LEED project boundary must include all contiguous land that is associated with the project and supports its typical operations. It may not unreasonably exclude portions of the building, space, or site to give the project an advantage in complying with credit requirements. LEED project must accurately communicate the scope of the certifying project in all promotional and descriptive materials and distinguish it from any non-certifying space.
