Registration Open for January SCL Summit!

Gather with the Changemakers in Sustainable Construction

You are invited to join BuildingGreen and your peers for the Summit that has always delivered on driving our movement forward. Over three days of collaboration, workshops, learning, sharing, networking, and socializing, we’ll set the agenda for changes to LEED v5, strategize on ways to leverage the ESG trend, and untangle the mess of jobsite carbon tracking.

Join us, and come away with new knowledge, new ideas, new connections, and a community of peer support. Past summits launched the Contractor’s Commitment; now is our chance to leverage this momentum and propel further changes in the industry.

Hello Sustainable Construction Leaders, The BuildingGreen team is super excited for the Winter Summit coming up in January! Some of you have already signed up, and we can’t wait to see you there. A few important pieces of information:
  1. Our reserved room block with the hotel expires on January 9th. After that rooms will be available on a first-come-first-served basis and will not be guaranteed, so we recommend signing up early!
  2. There’s a special opportunity at this Summit to connect with the Sustainable Design Leaders (our parallel network for architects), in addition quality time with just the Sustainable Construction Leaders. There are more details on the registration page, but if you want to take advantage of this chance for cross-pollination, plan to arrive on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.
  3. This Summit is open only to current SCL members. If you have a colleague not in the network who’d like to attend, please have them apply for a membership. This event is a great introduction to our community and a perfect time to join!
  4. We are also planning our regular pre-Greenbuild Summit for September so if you can’t make it in January you’ll have at least one more chance to connect this year.
If you know you definitely won’t be attending, please let me know by email, and I’ll make sure you’re off our Summit Updates email list. If you are definitely planning to attend but can’t register just yet, let me know that too so I can make sure you get all the reminders and information! When you’re ready to sign up, the registration page is available here. Questions are always welcome! Jen for the BG Team

  Hi SCL-ers,

We’re happy to see the first round of summit registrations rolling in! If you haven’t yet, make sure to register here. If you have any friends not currently in our Member Directory that you’d like to see at the Summit, encourage them to apply or reach out to me.

In the meantime, it's time to fill out the Pre-Summit Demographics Survey. This survey gives us some data about the network and helps inform some of our conversations. This is a streamlined version of past demographics surveys and should only take about 10-15 minutes. The survey will close on Friday, January 6th.

Instead of an Agenda Survey, we're trying something a little different and collecting topic ideas via an interactive poll. Your input helps us refine the agenda to cover what’s important to you and this format lets you participate more collaboratively by viewing, upvoting, and building on each other's ideas. Check that out here. Even if you can't join us at the Summit, we'd love to hear your thoughts, though we'll prioritize the responses from those who are coming when we set the agenda. This poll will also close on Friday, January 6th.

Please share your thoughts and data by the deadline and help us shape this Summit to meet your needs! We'll be pausing our Summit communications as our staff takes a break for the end of the year, so Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all and we'll be back for final preparations in January.

Hi folks, Details are coming together for an amazing return to in-person Summits in Phoenix Jan 25-26, and there’s still room to sign up. First and foremost, the Summit is a valuable opportunity to get energized and connected with your peers. But this year there are a few add-ons: a cross-over session with the Sustainable Design Leaders who have their Summit earlier in the week AND the chance to provide input directly to USGBC about ideas for LEED v5. Discounted hotel rooms are only available through January 9 and our block of rooms is only guaranteed until then, so now is the time to sign on and join us. We have already started to prioritize topics of interest. Here’s what has bubbled up to the surface so far: Carbon Quandaries:
  • Align around how our companies are bucketing jobsite emissions (Scope 1 or Scope 3?) and build the case for a carbon tracking program.
  • Dive deep into net zero commitments and compare practices for setting science-based reduction targets.
Material Choices:
  • What can we do to make material reuse more widespread and what specific asks can we make of our partners?
  • What cool new (or not so new) products and materials have we successfully incorporated into projects. How can we work with designers in this realm?
Contractor’s Commitment Value Proposition
  • Now that the Contractor's Commitment is a force to be reckoned with, let's revisit its value proposition. What role should it play sitting alongside LEED and AGC guidelines.
It’s not too late to weigh in on these topics before the agenda gets finalized. Register today! P.S. As further enticement, here’s the roster so far. Haven't you missed these people? Also excited to see some new faces!
