ASHRAE 90.1 Section 6.5.3

Good afternoon all,

Going over the 6.5.3 fan power limitation and pressure drop adjustment tables in ASHRAE 90.1 a few times, I'm at a bit of a crossroads with how the pressure drop adjustments should be interpreted. As Table 6.5.3.1.1B mentions a sound attenuation section as being worth 0.15" wc pressure drop credit, I am curious if this should be interpreted as only having a sound attenuation device on the exhaust/return side or if the sound attenuation device can be on the supply side to claim the credit? This is the only credit that seems to be applicable to both a supply side and return/exhaust side of a system and leads me to believe that it is only applicable if the SAD is on the exhaust/return side. Thank you for any help!

A pressure drop adjustment for sound attenuation may be applied to either the supply side, return/exhaust side, or both depending on where it has been designed for the Proposed system.

Hi Tyler, I am sorry to open this post. Can acoustic insulation over supply ducts be considered under sound attenuation?
