Pilot-Credits SSpc158:Onsite Carbon Sequestration Through Plantings

Protected or preserved trees in calculator

For 'Protected', or preserved, trees on an existing site, are teams required to include them in BOTH the baseline and design case i-Tree calculations?  Exclude from both cases to avoid extra data entry within calculator?  Or only account in baseline with design case representing only 'new' plant species added to existing conditions?

This looks like an older thread, but I had to do some additive and deductive math.  The Baseline should include protected trees.  If you have trees that must be removed, you need to calculate that impact.  Then, you have the calculation for the new canopy and plantings.  Combined, those values need to exceed 110% of the baseline!   Hope that is helpful.  I love seeing those mighty trees at work and demonstrating to our campus properties teams additional data on the value of tree preservation!
