Hi,
I am pursuing this credit for a mall building, and I wonder what the right way to identify the regularly occupied spaces is.
I find it hard to distinguish, could a space below a skylight with chairs for people to wait while shopping be considered under this category?
Do food and beverage lunch areas fit under regularly occupied spaces?
I am not able to find a proper description, it does not appear as a tricky space nor in the examples list.
Have you ever addressed a similar issue? How did you solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Julio

Check the LEED Reference Guide Overview EQ Category which provides examples of regularly occupied spaces including retail. When in doubt, you can use this rule of thumb, also from the EQ Category Overview - Occupied spaces that do not meet the definition of regularly occupied are nonregularly occupied; these are areas that people pass through or areas used an average of less than one hour per person per day. https://www.usgbc.org/guide/bdc#eq-overview

Hi Summer,
I understand what you are referring at. I guess that these two types are the considered regularly occupied spaces in a mall building:
· Retail merchandise area and associated circulation
· Retail sales transaction area
Thanks
