I would like to ask for a clarification regarding the documentation required for credit MRc4 – BPDO Material ingredients , Option 3 “Product manufacturer supply chain optimization” of LEED V4.
As far as I can observe, there is no list of required documentation on LEED manual, nor on USGBC. Moreover, the explanation is quite convulted and complex.
According to my understand and making a general summary, in order to obtain the point under Option 3 I have to use at least 25% by cost, of the total value of permanently installed products in the projects, that:
- Have documentation reporting at least 99% (by weight) of the ingredients
and - Are sourced from manufacturer with a third-party certified supply chain (e.g ISO 14001)
Out of this 25% of products, no more than 30% can be structure and enclosure materials.
Do you consider this interpretation correct?
Would someone who has pursued this option be able to tell me whether this sort of documentation is sufficient for scoring?
Thank you in advance,
Have a good day!
Filippo

Hi Filippo,
In the "LEEDuser's Guidance" section that is available to premium members there is a detailed explanation of this option. It was a late addition to the credit, and hasn't gotten a lot of use or support, but there is additional guidance available on how to meet it if you're determined to try.
More generally, I would suggest looking into upgrading to version 4.1, at least for this credit, as the pathways to achievement in 4.1 are more accessible.
Good luck! Nadav

Hi Nadav, thanks for the information.
Unfortunately even in the additional guide it is not specified which documents are needed for the submission, however, I will look into this further hoping to understand better.
Based on your experience with this option, do you think what I have written is correct?
