From my experience, GBCI does not consider overhead doors to be 'entrances into the building' and thus have allowed us to exclude these from the signage requirements.
Loading dock 'man doors' that are used by employees/delivery drivers have been required to provided with no smoking signage within 10 feet.
Note that the v4.1 prereq no longer requires signage to be within 10 feet of building entrances. GBCI will still ask for evidence of signage, however they will not require project team to demonstrate it is within 10 feet of building entrances.
Hope this helps!

David, that surprises me since overhead doors would be potential openings into the building, like a window or a louver. I have never tested not putting signs in those areas, so I don't have any direct experience in not including them. From life experience though, the delivery people are often not employees of the building, and may not be aware of the smoking policy. I have found that adding the signs around the overhead dock doors (if they are further away than 25' from the sign near the "man door") are a helpful reminder as they unload their trucks or have to hang around until the trucks are unloaded.

I agree with you Renee, it is a helpful reminder of the no smoking policy and I advise project teams to locate them as you pointed out.
Just have some experience that GBCI does not comment when signage is not located near dock doors.
Good Luck!
