EBOM-v4.1 EQp4:Indoor Environmental Quality Performance

Skipping the IAQ Assessment for CO2 and TVOC

The requirements in the LEED v4.1 Guide for the  v4.1 EQP4- Indoor Environment Quality Performance says: (Conduct an occupant satisfaction survey and/or an indoor air quality evaluation.). So, can the project just perform the Occupant Satisfaction Survey and completely skip the IAQ Assessment or select one of the two available options (CO2 or TVOC)?

Has anyone tried this approach and achieved the prerequisite?

Hi Maysoon. Yes, it is possible to comply with the prerequisite by performing in a single category achieving the minimum 8 points. I always try to execute the 3 topics: occupant survey, CO2 measurements and TVOC measurements. But I know projects that achieved the prerequisite only with the survey; only with both measurements and only with the survey plus CO2 measurement. As long as you obtain 8 points.

Hi Patric, as I can see you have some experience with air testing :) Can you help me with understanding how to choose measurement location? I have 10 storey office building with many Tenants - sometimes more than one per floor. Shall we test every open space in every Tenant's premises? Or one testing per floor shall be enough? or even less? I can see no clear guidelines on that :( Thank you in advance, Marcin

Hi Marcin In order to define and select the number of test points, I recommend you apply the credit IEQc Indoor Air Quality Assessment - Option 2 from the LEED v4 BD+C reference guide. That`s where the most recent requirements for this matter are described. I`ve always used this credit to determine the amount of sampling points and locations and the credit has always been achieved. Hope this helps.

The information provided is helpful. What sampling methods are recommended for carbon dioxide and TVOC testing?  What is the required or reasonable sample duration? How do you get the 95th percentile with lab analysis?
