First Friday Fikas--a great way to get to know each other

Hi Green Gurus,

We're off to a great start with First Friday Fikas* this year. We've had good turnout and lots of fun. This new tradition continues this Friday at 11:00 am Eastern Time (8:00 am Pacific). We have more fun planned, with prompts to help us get to know each other.

If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here.

I hope you can join us!

Nadav

*What is a fika? Pronounced fee-ka, this is a Swedish custom of taking a break from work to have a coffee and a snack while catching up with friends. It’s a chance to slow down and connect, something we could probably all use a little more of. So we invite you once a month to take an hour out of your day and come fika with your Sustainability Leader peers!

Hello Green Gurus, This Friday (4/1) is our First Friday Fika! At 11am Eastern/8am Pacific, we invite you to take a pause for coffee, snacks, and chatting with friends, inspired by the Swedes. Even though it’s April Fools' Day, we won’t be planning anything fool-ish for this call, so rest assured that no tricks will be played (at least not by BuildingGreen). We hope to hear some April Fools' stories from you though! For this month, we’ll be trying something new in the second half - going on a walk with each other. Please bring a cellphone and be prepared to leave your computer. Getting outside is encouraged, but you could explore your house, office, or other indoor space as well. Because of this, while you're welcome to drop in and out for the first half hour, we won’t be able to accommodate this for the second half. Zoom registration is available here (it's the same for all First Fridays, so you can use the same link if you’ve already registered). Please reach out with any questions, and I hope to see you on Friday!
Jen

Hi all, Next Friday is the first Friday of May. However, Nadav and I are occupied with other Peer Network events and will be out of town so we're going to skip the Fika* for this month. If anyone is eager to host on our behalf, go ahead and reply to this thread or send me an email. Unless we hear from someone, there will be no May First Friday Fika, but we'll hope to see you on the first Friday in June! Jen *What is a fika? Hello friends, The First Friday Fikas* are back for June! Mark your calendars for this Friday, June 3 at 11am ET (8am PT). We'll keep this one simple by sourcing topics from attendees then using choose-your-own breakout rooms to let people hop from one conversation to another. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a coffee shop for a morning break. If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. I hope to see you then! Jen *What is a fika? Hi Green Gurus, Our First Friday Fika* is this week! Friday, July 1st at 11am ET (8am PT), we'll introduce ourselves, source topics from attendees, and then use choose-your-own breakout rooms to let people hop from one conversation to another. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a coffee shop for a morning break. Anyone who wants to meet and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! You're also free to drop in and out, no need to commit to the full hour. If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. I hope to see you then! Jen *What is a fika? Hi Green Gurus, It's Fika week again! Our First Friday Fika is this Friday, August 5th at 11am ET (8am PT). Jen is on vacation this week, so it won't be nearly as much fun as usual, but I'll do my best to sustain this new tradition. Following Jen's recent practices, we'll introduce ourselves, suggest topics, and then use choose-your-own breakout rooms to engage on your topic of choice. Anyone who wants to meet and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! You're also free to drop in and out, no need to commit to the full hour. If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. I hope to see you on Friday! Nadav

Hi Green Gurus, It's that time again! Our First Friday Fika* is this week. Friday, September 2nd at 11am ET (8am PT), we'll introduce ourselves, source topics from attendees, and then use choose-your-own breakout rooms to let people hop from one conversation to another. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a coffee shop for a morning break. Anyone who wants to meet and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! You're also free to drop in and out, no need to commit to the full hour. I expect a light crowd because of the holiday weekend, but if your Friday morning could use something easy breezy but still intellectual, stop on by! Past topics have included electrifying existing buildings, non-work pastimes, EHDD's EPIC tool, music taste, and ESG goals from clients. There's always something to learn, and we always have a little fun. If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. I hope to see you then! Jen *What is a fika? Hello Green Gurus, Can you believe it's October already?! Our First Friday Fika* is this week: Friday, October 7th at 11am ET (8am PT), we'll introduce ourselves, source topics from attendees, and then use choose-your-own breakout rooms to mingle and converse. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a coffee shop for a morning break. Anyone who wants to meet and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! You're also free to drop in and out, no need to commit to the full hour. This is for anyone who...
  • Wonders "who are these Green Gurus?" Maybe you're new and want to know who's here, or maybe you've been here for a while and want to know who's new
  • Has something they want to talk about with a group of green building superstars
  • Isn't sure what they want to talk about but enjoys connecting with other sustainability leaders
  • Could use some new connections to expand their network
  • Wants a cross-disciplinary conversation (not available in your single-network monthly calls)
  • Is in the Peer Networks!
If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week. If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. I hope to see you then! Jen *What is a fika? Hello Green Gurus, It's First Friday Fika* time again! This Friday, November 4th at 11am ET (8am PT), we'll introduce ourselves, source topics from attendees, and then use choose-your-own breakout rooms to mingle and converse. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a coffee shop for a morning break. Anyone who wants to meet and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! If not (or if you don't have that link handy), you can register here. Our entire Peer Networks team is on the road this week, so you'll have a special treat: BuildingGreen's new COO, Jill Marshall, has very kindly volunteered to step in and host this Fika. Although not a facilitator by trade, Jill has enthusiastically jumped in to help with our Fika, and she's excited to meet some of our Sustainability Leaders community! I hope you'll hop on the call to say hi to Jill and your peers, and I'll see you next time! Jen *What is a fika? Hello Green Gurus, Our First Friday Fika* is this week! This Friday, December 2nd at 11am ET (8am PT), we'll meet on Zoom for some lightly structured coffee-chat time. We'll find a balance between facilitated activities and open conversation about the topics you're interested in at the moment. We hope it will feel (almost) like meeting up in a cafe for a morning break. Any Peer Network member who wants to say hi and chat with some of their fellow Sustainability Leaders is welcome! You're also free to drop in and out, no need to commit to the full hour. If you registered previously you can use that same Zoom link this week.
