Electrical Connectors in Waiting Area instead of Loading Dock Doors

Hi,

We are currently pursuing Option 2 for this credit and have a question conerning the location of sockets. In our DC project drivers usually wait in a waiting area rather than in their trucks at loading docks while their trucks are being loaded. Therefore having sockets at the loading dock door would not really be useful. Is there any way this credit was interpreted as providing an area for drivers which is air conditionned/heated and plugs rather than a socket for drivers to sit in their trucks while loading?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I'm not sure about the waiting room aspect, but we tried to use standard outlets within our garage, right next to the dock doors, for the drivers to plug in to, and they did not accept it.  They want specialty connections, similar to the level 2 chargers for electric vehicles, but for big rigs' AC.   I like your approach, though.  Maybe ask your LEED coach if a waiting room would work.

Hi Cindy,  Do you know how to adjust standard outlets to achieve this credit? Is there a possibility to connect somehow non-hybrid truck's cabin to electrical power? What is needed to do that?

No, sorry, I don't know how to adjust a standard outlet.  We ended up not pursuing this credit, so I haven't seen an approved version.
