NC-v4.1 SSc5:Heat Island Reduction

Tennis court- Heat Island Reduction

We have a proyect that in the LEED boundary includes a tennis court. It's a clay court so it's not exacly paved.

Would this be excluded from calculations? or does it count as non-roof surface?

Hi Gabriela, In the FAQs for this credit on the v4 page, it states the following: "Can I exclude functional usable areas like recreation courts or rooftop patios?
No. Note that LI 10235 (exempting functional space) is not applicable to LEED v4 and can only be applied to LEED v2009. However, project teams can still exclude roof area covered by mechanical equipment, solar energy panels, skylights, and any other appurtenances."  So, it would be considered a non-roof, hardscape surface.
