Designated Smoking Area at Level 2 Garden

Hello all,

One of our projects has the garden at Level 2. The garden is naturally ventilated and has many greenery. Is it allowed to provide a designated smoking area there? we can make sure the designated smoking area comply with LEED requirement , which is at least 25 feet away from any opening and fresh air intake. Appreciate your kind advice. Thanks.

Hi there, as long as the building has a clear smoking policy prohibiting smoking inside and the designated smoking area is 25 feet (or the maximum extent allowable by local codes) from all entries, outdoor air intakes, and operable windows, then you should be compliant with this prerequisite. I would make sure to annotate the designated smoking area clearly on a plan to demonstrate 25 feet or more for the reviewer to clearly see it.
