The AEC Industry is in the Driver's Seat: Strategies to reduce waste & carbon emissions
Thursday, January 27th, 2022
1pm - 2pm ET (10am - 11am PT)

Description

Join us for a discussion with Schott Design, a leading Commercial Interior Design firm in Indianapolis, and learn about the successes and challenges surrounding the creation of their subsidiary, schottXchange, which is solely committed to reducing waste and carbon emissions in the built environment.  schottXchange was founded as a commercial reuse exchange platform indented to keep building materials in use, and has evolved into a platform for education & advocacy for redesign, an innovator for circular design processes, and a technical resource to landlords and building owners by providing key sustainability metric tracking.  Schott believes design firms are uniquely positioned to drive change in the climate crisis and will share their best practices to help guide and inspire others to create circular design economies in their own local markets.

About the presenters

Pam Francis is the Vice President of Schott Design and Co-Founder of schottXchange. Passionate about landfill diversion and carbon reduction, Pam is working to drive significant change in the C&D Industry through education, advocacy, reuse and re-design of building materials. Ms. Francis currently serves as the President of the Circular Indiana Board of Directors, and is helping to drive the creation of a circular economy model for all materials and products in the State of Indiana.

Michael Orbank is the Sustainability Manager for Commodore Builders, a mid-size Construction Management firm outside of Boston MA. Passionate about cleaning up the built environment, Michael co-chairs the reuse working group of the Carbon Leadership Forum – Boston and is actively working to reduce waste and increase building and material reuse in New England.
