NC-v4 EAc3:Advanced energy metering

where and how to install advanced meters?

Dear all,

We have a tower with multi-storey building, made up of 3 components: Offices, hotel and residential. We follow as a reference the " BD+C NC "

The metering will be separate: Each component will be equipped with its own  meters (because we will have different operators).
So how do I install the meters? I need to install advanced meters:
1. for any individual end use of energy which represents at least 10% of the total annual consumption of the building (consumption sum of offices + hotel and residential )?
Or
2. for any individual end use of energy that represents at least 10% of the total annual consumption of each component?

As well,
the meters must read the electricity consumption (Kwh) or the KW? we are lost!!!

We will appreciate your return,

#1 is correct. Electric meters must read consumption (kWh) and demand (kW).

Hi Sara,   First of all, is your project certified as campus approach or group approach?
  1. If your office+hotel+residential are certified under group approach, then you have to combine all the energy consumption and then see which equipment (HVAC, lighting, lift, pumps, etc) that have at least 10% of total annual consumption of the whole buildings. After that, you must put separate metering in each building for each equipment that have at least 10% of total annual all building consumption.
  2. If your office+hotel+residential are certified under campus approach, then you see each building separately and see which equipment that have at least 10% of total annual consumption for the respective building. However, in this campus approach you can choose which building that will target the advance metering credit.
Related to the energy metering requirement, you may refer to LEED guide page 413.   Thanks and regards.

Thank you Afogreen for these interesting details that I appreciated.
In fact, we have not applied either a group approach or a campus approach.
Our project is in the form of a tower (high rise building) of 45 floors, these floors are divided between 3 components which are: hotel, offices, and housing.
So we followed the LEED BD + C: NC without applying any approach. So how and where do we install advanced meters?
