New Executive Order today on the Clean Energy Economy and Federal Sustainability

Check out this new executive order. It is broad and includes a lot of items, but of interest to this group, there are some things in here that we pointed towards in our letter back from the beginning of the year, including 24/7 carbon-free electrical energy, a net-zero emissions portfolio by 2045 and net zero emissions from procurement including the promotion of construction materials with lower embodied carbon emissions.

Here's a link to White House Fact Sheet on the order:

Adding to Clark's post.  The day after the Executive Order was released, we reached back out to Gina McCarthy and some of the other climate leads at the White House to thank them for the work they had done and noting that we will help spread the word within our industry.  She wrote back almost immediately to thank us for helping them to get the ball rolling so quickly with the letter that so many of you helped draft and then sign.  A great lesson in being proactive with our expertise, passion and enthusiasim for improving sustainability.  So, thank you all who participated.  I'm sure you'll be hearing from us again soon about more opportunties.   (I'm also including a nice summary graphic from Gina McCarthy on some of what this EO entails.)  Chris Hellstern Living Building Challenge Services Director The Miller Hull Partnership
